Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority Celebrates Keeley Rogers’ Achievement of ASCP BOC Certification for Phlebotomy

The Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority (CIHA) is proud to announce that Keeley Rogers has successfully passed the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) exam, earning certification in the field of phlebotomy. This certification is recognized globally as the gold standard for laboratory professionals and confirms that Keeley possesses the essential knowledge and skills necessary for competent practice in her field.

Keeley began her career at CIHA on January 31, 2022, as a Phlebotomist PTI and has since progressed to a full-time Phlebotomist. Reflecting on her achievement, Keeley said, “I am excited to be certified because I feel that I’ve completed my training. This accomplishment not only solidifies my expertise but also empowers me to guide upcoming phlebotomists in adhering to the regulations and standards within our scope of practice.”

CIHA Laboratory Manager Chad Cooper emphasized the significance of this certification, stating, “The ASCP BOC is a single certification agency for medical laboratory professionals, historically known as the Board of Registry (BOR). Certification by the ASCP BOC ensures that the care received at the CIHA Laboratory is from highly qualified personnel. Keeley’s success in the BOC exam reinforces our commitment to delivering the highest quality of care.”

Keeley is not alone in this achievement. CIHA currently boasts three other employees who have also earned certification in phlebotomy. Additionally, the laboratory team includes three employees certified as Medical Laboratory Technicians and seven as Medical Technologists. Furthermore, five more staff members are either scheduled for the BOC exam or will be in the process within the next year.

CIHA continues to prioritize the professional development of staff, ensuring that patients receive top-tier care from certified and highly skilled professionals.
